West End House Girls Camp Staff

 Who Are WEHGC Staff?

The strength and excellence of the West End House Girls Camp lie in the staff - dedicated individuals who devote over nine weeks each summer to ensure the safety and happiness of the campers under their care. We view our counselors as Youth Development Professionals but your camper will refer to them as their new role model, hero, confidant, and friend.

Selection Process

We search the globe - seriously, don’t be surprised when your kid comes home practicing an Australian or English accent - and choose the very best staff to work at camp. We have a rigorous screening and hiring process. Potential staff members are interviewed one-on-one by camp leadership, provide at least three outstanding references who are contacted directly by our team, and submit to comprehensive background tests. We will never cut corners and only hire THE BEST to work with your child.

Camp is my home away from home. I feel like I am able to connect with campers on a personal level and although the girls may be strangers to each other at the beginning of the session, they leave as friends.

Training

WEHGC’s staff begin training as Youth Development Professionals months before they arrive at camp through online training courses and certifications. Before campers arrive, staff undergo ten days of intensive training on-site learning our policies and procedures, earning first aid, CPR, AED & blood borne pathogens certifications, training in conflict resolution, child development, homesickness and much more.

1 to 3 Staff to Camper Ratio

Your camper’s safety is our first priority and we maintain an overall staff-to-camper ratio of 1 to 3 to ensure your child receives personal, 24/7 supervision. WEHGC staff are chosen for their maturity, fun-loving heart, and responsibility. If it’s not good enough for our children, it’s not good enough for yours. We hire only the best.
